"Apparently there is a bit of nasty Malware Virus spreading through the social networking sites...including LiveJournal (of course). It targets communities, generating a mod-ish looking post informing the membership that the community is being closed, and then deletes all the community's entries. The post includes a couple of links which, when clicked, will infect the clickee, compromising their personal info as well as their f-list. Good times! [NOT!]

So...please be aware that THIS COMMUNITY IS NOT CLOSING. If you see such a post, do NOT click any of the internal links. Please DO report the post to LJSupport by clicking the red flag icon or the "flag" link, depending upon your viewing option. This warning is site-wide, so please keep this in mind if you encounter strange so-called administrative messages on other communities of which you are a part.

We try to keep tabs on the page, but please DO email us or leave a comment on our journals if you notice something untoward. We'll keep our collective fingers crossed that it will pass us by."

*This post was written by kenaz_fiction and borrowed with credit* AND we took it from italian_jewels and I took it from magic_art - thanks for the warning!

This will be going up in all my communities but this is also here so that everyone knows what's up. So far, none of the comms I'm reading or my personal ones are getting anything but here's the heads up.

Cross posted to /all/ WoW comms.

The Estate at Valleaux

Victorian-themed holiday

Enjoy a Victorian-themed fortnight at this country estate two hours from Paris.

Valleaux is an estate covering hundreds of acres and nestled among the hills of France. It boasts an estate house decorated in the Victorian manner, with an extensive library and themed guest rooms; a deer park; a bass pond and lagoon; gardens; a gourmet chef; a vineyard. It is a self-sufficient estate with its own herds of livestock and chickens, vegetable gardens, and fruit orchards. The estate house dates back to the 1000s; the gardens and grounds were constructed over the course of several hundred years before reaching their current state in the late 1600s. The nearby village of Valleaux is home to several shops and cafes. The church offers a weekly Mass. The village includes a bicycle rental office; bicycles can be used in and around the village and along the garden paths of the estate.

Spend a quiet evening reading one of the library’s 10,000 volumes, play games in the salon or billiards room, stroll through the many gardens, or go fishing or rowing in the bass pond and lagoon. These are just a few of the activities available to participate in over the course of the fortnight.

Enjoy meals prepared by our gourmet chef, following a Victorian theme and featuring livestock and produce raised on the estate and wine from the estate vineyard. Please inform us of any dietary preferences or restrictions when you make your reservation.

Although the deer park and grounds are home to several varieties of wildlife, hunting for deer, pheasant, quail, and other wildlife is no longer permitted. Fishing for bass in the pond requires a permit; information on how to obtain one is [here]. Our chef will prepare any fish you catch, if you request it of him.

Victorian-era costuming is not required, but should you desire to obtain some, we have teamed up with [a costume rental company]. Tell them Valleaux sent you to get a special rental rate. This themed holiday features a Victorian-themed menu prepared by one of the best chefs in France.

Rooms are available for singles or couples. We have one suite of four connected rooms ideal for a family or friends traveling together. We have one room with two twin beds; the rest are queen-sized beds. Please request the twin beds.

Single rate: € 15,000/person
Double/couple rate: € 12,000/person

Contact us for family/children rates. Accommodations made for children under 10 years of age.

For questions or reservations, call 1.800.555.1414.

This game is somewhat different than what we've done before. It's for mortals - just pure mortals, not mortals who are going to turn into anything else. Chances are these mortals don't know anything about the occult - or at least not the occult as White Wolf designed it. This is not a World of Darkness game.

For that reason, I won't make you actually create characters using character sheets with dots, but if you don't do that, I'll want a fairly detailed background for each of your characters (think of it as a narrative of a character sheet; instead of dots, you'd say 'so-and-so is very good at computers and speaks three languages other than their own' and such). You'd create two characters (I might even let you create three, if you think you can handle that many).

The premise of the game is this: you're on a vacation for two weeks in a country estate in France (think Biltmore on a different continent). This vacation is happening from June 8-21, 2009 (just for setting; the game will hopefully start before that). Maybe you've saved up for years to afford this, or the cost to take your family on a vacation like this is barely a drop in the bucket on your finanaces. Maybe you're relating this to your job somehow. Whatever your reason, and however you're affording it, this is a two-week vacation that you've come on. It's a package; you do all two weeks or none of it. That's how this game is set up.

Information on the setting is [here]. (Background info to give you character ideas.) Pretend it's a website designed to sell the vacation package and get people to make reservations.

Game-related questions (OOC stuff) can go in the comments here. There'll be a different system for any pre-game character inquiries.

As Christian and Seri leave Nathan's temporary office, headed wherever they were going to head next, someone they recognize as a Hermetic comes up to them. "Have you seen Robert?" she asks. "No one's been able to find him for a couple of days."

As Seri and Christian walk through the Dreamwalker floor looking for Nathan, they see him going into Sylvia's office. He notices them. "Hello Christian. Seri. Would you like to come in?"

So...the two of them go on a walk. When getting up, Christian hides his journal so Seri cannot ask more to see the poem. He's not ready to show that yet. Maybe the third draft. So they walk, holding hands.
